How to be an Opera Composer in 5 Steps

When I started working on Libertaria: The Virtual Opera, I didn't set out to be an opera composer . Had I written vocal music before? Well, yes, in fact I wrote a large scale multimedia Creation oratorio (complete with Afro-Cuban drumming ensemble, sci-fi animation, and synthesis). And like any college composer , I wrote several songs throughout my college career and more as I developed my music career. Libertaria: The Virtual Opera

It’s been a busy summer for Libertaria: The Virtual Opera! Since the spring, singers auditioned online through Music Xray and through e-mail internet auditions, final cast decisions were made in late August, some basic preproduction work was completed, draft 1 of the screenplay completed, the studio was upgraded to handle the heavy software needed to create an animated opera , and cast members have started working on excerpts for Libertaria: The Virtual Opera . Libertaria is an exciting animated science fiction opera set in the year 2139 that combines contemporary classical composition techniques with some of the latest innovations in electronic music and sound synthesis .
