3 GREATEST Star Wars Christmas Songs EVER! - Christmas in the Stars
3 Star Wars Christmas Songs that will Make Your Holiday Season! Christmas in the StarsAs we get ready for the latest exciting installment of Star Wars in the final trilogy, I wanted to share a fun childhood memory and three of the greatest Star Wars Christmas songs ever written, ever!
Every year, our family pulled out the old 1980 Christmas in the Stars Christmas album and danced around the living room singing "What can you get a Wookie for Christmas if he already owns a comb?" CONTENT: Christmas in our South Florida home was already a bit unorthodox. No snow in the humid 80 degree weather, our Christmas feast augmented by sushi, Cuban food, or lasagna, and the most amazing holiday album ever created: The Star Wars Christmas Album - Christmas in the Stars!
Mom and Dad pulled out this album year after year after year, and it was a constant soundtrack behind the joys of unwrapping gifts and feasting with friends and family. Christmas in our household would have been entirely incomplete without the Star Wars Christmas Album. No studies have been done, but I think listening to Christmas in the Stars each year had a serious impact on us kids. Already obsessed with science fiction, my siblings and I developed an entire Yoda like dialect, made sure we could play the Star Wars theme on our respected instruments, and thought Han Solo was hot. My younger brother even took up fencing so he could be a genuine Jedi, and my wedding reception had an eclectic mix of Star Wars songs from Phantom Menace alongside pictures of my husband wielding a light saber. I even photoshopped Princess Amadala's dress onto my sister's wedding pictures, with Yoda as flower girl, of course. But enough of the long term impact of Star Wars on children.
What Star Wars classics were our favorites?
What can you get a Wookie for Christmas when he already owns a comb?
This Star Wars song took the cake. It really is a dilemma, because what can you get Chewbacca? I mean, he does not seem like the Bath and Body Works kind of Wookie. And if the furry warrior already owns a comb, then what else is there to get him? A toothbrush? At the end, as a strange din of alien voices sing, "Give him love and understanding, good will towards man, wrap it all up in a bright-colored ribbon, and give it to him all over again." Then there is this weird part where the Christmas song sounds like bullfrogs, but truly it is a Christmas Star Wars classic.
R2-D2 We Wish You a Merry Christmas
This Star Wars Christmas song is one of the those super sappy songs with an angelic children's choir caroling away. This song is feel-good Christmas cheer wrapped up in Star Wars weirdness. Simple perfection! At the end R2-D2 finishes up with a droid's rendition of "Jingle Bells". Classic!
Christmas in the Stars
Although I have this song memorized, C-3PO truly can get annoying as he starts singing "Christmas in the Stars". Not only that, but he is the narrator for the entire album. Personally, I think C-3PO and Jar Jar Binks need to be eaten by a starving Rancor, but that is just me.
