The concert will include two world premieres and two USA premieres. The program will feature music by Manuel M. Ponce (1882-1948, Mexico), Juan Camilo Hernandez (1982, Colombia),Elizabeth Brown (1953, USA), César Ivan Potes (1957, Colombia), Ursula Mamlok (1923, Germany-USA), Julian Carrillo (1875-1965, Mexico), Carlos Francisco Johns-Avila (USA-Perú), and Alba Potes (1954, Colombia-USA)
The series Las Américas en Concierto showcases music from North America, the Caribbean, Central and South America of the 20th and 21st centuries. The purpose of these concerts is to create cross-cultural bridges through music, bringing to established and new audiences music that is unknown or rarely performed in the United States. The concert series gives emphasis to contemporary composers.
