Find Easter Eggs and win an Autographed Songbook and Digital Soundtrack! An Easter egg is an intentional inside joke , hidden message , or feature in a work such as a computer program , movie , book , or crossword . This practice is similar in some respects to hidden signature motifs such as Diego Rivera 's including himself in his murals , Alfred Hitchcock 's legendary cameo appearances (hint) , Fritz's appearances in the works of Chris van Allsburg , and various " Hidden Mickeys " that can be found throughout the various Disney Parks. - Wikipedia (of course) The rules are easy!  1. Watch Libertaria: The Virtual Opera 2. Jot down the time code for every film, book, art, music, or sci-fi reference that you can find (both in the visuals, lyrics and the music) with a short description.  Pris from Blade Runner makes an appearance at 24:16 in Libertaria. Merry Christmas . We shout "Merry Christmas" out to strangers, proclaim it on tacky sweaters, blare it in bright red and green lights on our lawns, and even throw it away on discarded half-used paper plates from the last office Christmas party, but what does "Merry Christmas" really mean, for the family like the Hands that might spend this Christmas at a pediatric cancer hospital?  What does "Merry Christmas" mean for newly broken families that have to forge holiday memories minus loved ones? Or for the lonely forgotten vet in his degraded mobile home or the family that survives from one fast food paycheck to another fast food paycheck? What is merry for the depressed college student struggling with addiction and loneliness or the soldier spending Christmas in the desert this year?  What is so merry in this topsy-turvy world? What hope can there be this Christmas? But there is hope.   "Merry Christmas" was once more than a Hallma...

It'll be fast but you won't forget it right away. Heavy hitting. Ugly. Emotional. And all I can think of at this moment is another winter's coming." Cocoon (2001) Short Story Compelling short story. Excerpt: "What are you doing in this part of town, Elma?" "Jus'ta meet some friends." Why ask? Sure, friends. Nice friends with nice powders and needles and rocks. Real nice friends who will ki...

Tragedy befalls us at every turn. A look at the news this week and the tragic school shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary demonstrates that life is precious, fleeting, in a moment gone from your arms. But it seems that as a society we are befalling a string of personal tragedies, economic and personal, temporary and forever.  This morning I reflect on life, on death, on tragedy, on pain. I work on a Christmas gift for a child that was born premature and lived all but a few minutes in his young parents' arms. This week we receive news that a grandmother is in hospice. This morning one of my parents is in the hospital, a thousand miles away.  Life, does it need to be so tragic? We are spoonfed a million images daily that insist that we need to be happy, that things and beauty and money will bring us happiness. Could it be that the natural human condition is struggle? Could it be that happiness is only one facet of an ever complex reality, existence. Our society insists that e...

Vampira Queen of the Darkness Interested in some cheesy and fun Halloween pop songs about vampires, lonely ghosts, and all out Halloween spookiness? This year I had a great time creating two fun pop songs for my favorite time of the year. Of course, I'm not much of a pop diva, experimental electronica and awesome classical are my usual musical cups o' tea, but I enjoyed dabbling in some fun cheesy pop for this Halloween! The first free Halloween pop song is Halloween RoboBop at Easy Ear Training. Not only is this a fun and silly holiday song, it also teaches some basic music ear training with a fun lesson in I-IV-V chord progressions. The first part opens up with a super creepy symphonic scary organ with strings, then bounces right into electronica 8 bit silliness with vocal synthesis from Vocal Writer, ending with a fun 50s doowop about a lonely ghost.
