Upcoming in 2018: Science Fiction, Animation, Zombies, and More Thank you so much for visiting my blog today! This year promises to be a very exciting year with new works like my science fiction film Spiritus and Resurrection Day. Spiritus is the story of a young orphan who jouraneys to the dying exoplanet Spiritus to escape the truth about her parents. It is an exciting animated film that I hope will be done in the next few months. Resurrection Day is a graphic novel inspired zombie microfilm that I'm hoping to shoot in my attic, of all places! It will combine live action with animation. I can't seem to get away from that animation!  Recently I had an interview with "Big Words I know by Heart" here in Buffalo New York. It was an exciting episode and we chatted about everything film, music, and weird. So taking this week to work on my animated science fiction film Spiritus! I am using Moviestorm animation. Have been having some shadow issues this week, but that's okay. I have been using final cut pro and MOTION to add effects and do a tight edit.

YOUNG's YEARLY UPDATE and a HAPPY NEW YEAR! This year has been a crazy, CRAZY year! My film Libertaria:The Virtual Opera was shown at festivals including the Buffalo Dreams Fantastic Film Festival, where it was nominated for Best Animation and Best Short Feature. NPR's Morning Edition interviewed me about my "spacey" rendition of their theme song. This year I have been writing like crazy, including my new Composer Boot Camp 101, the sci-fi novel Libertaria: Revelation, and several series on songwriting for Easy Ear Training . I also made a couple of short films, including the Pearl of Tia Maria Magdalena, which won 2nd place in the Buffalo Video and Film Makers Shorty Contest. An original experimental animated film , a student film, created around 2006. Using a combination of Final Cut and Bryce, I developed a stark alien landscape and a quiet being being terrorized by a bizarre creature that I lovingly referred to as the "eyeball monster".  This was a student film first created while doing graduate studies in film and new media at Florida International University in Miami, Florida . The soundtrack was originally written for another of my experimental films , but I found that the music matched these visuals quite nicely, so I cannibalized my soundtrack and used it for this film.
