After a few months off with the holidays, everything began to pick up again in February. Check out the latest music projects, opera updates, and concerts below!
Libertaria: The Virtual Opera
My contemporary opera Libertaria, an exciting animated sci-fi extavaganza about a runaway who tries to take down a genetics factory in 2139 AD, is in the middle of music production. The talented Libertaria cast, including leads Kate Sikora, Gretchen Suarez-Pena, and Gracia Gillund, has been busy like crazy recording the latest in musical mayhem from Libertaria. Recordings include excerpts from the epic march "Pilar of the Underground" and the slightly psychotic "Baby Machine" (bet you wonder what that is about?). Other cast members, including Jennifer Hermansky, who just finished her senior recital (go Jennifer!) and Matthew Meadows, who is buried in the snow during his Rango Project, are busy balancing opera fun with busy music lives. The animation and sound team from Libertaria have also started work, with Art Director Carol Damian beginning work on the opening credit animations. More on sound and animation soon!
Concerts
There are a few concerts for the spring. A talented composer's choir in Argentina will be presenting Movements 1 and 2 from my award-winning multimedia Creation Oratorio. In New York City, an acoustic version of "Light" will be performed by the Association of Dominican Classical Artists. Palm Beach Atlantic University recently showed multimedia work, and the Vox Novus 60x60 continues to travel the globe with my work "American Recall" in tow.
Monica
I am very excited to be composing the soundtrack for cartoonist Rob Cabrera's animated short "Monica". Can't give away too much, but more info on this exciting film project is coming soon!
And more!
There are several other projects in the works, including a few articles in upcoming publications and websites, a new Athena 60x60 project, and possibly a few new works, in between opera production! Exciting times!
